Call Me KESHA

Alright, folks. I’ve been dreaming of seeing Kesha in concert for years, and last week that dream became a reality. But it can be tough to know what to wear to a Kesha concert. I’d been prepping my outfits for weeks, scouring the internet for the perfect combo of glitter and gusto. After all, concerts are the perfect opportunity to get a little wild and show your true colors. Rainbow, glitter, leather – whatever your guilty pleasure is, now’s the time to let it shine.

Or in the words of Kesha,  THROW SOME GLITTER, MAKE IT RAIN

Whether you’re heading to a Kesha concert, swinging by Summerfest, living it up at Lollapalooza, kickin’ it at Coachella, or roughing it at Bonnaroo or Electric Forest, this outfit is the perfect addition to your music festival attire.

THE ESSENTIALS.

It’s no secret – I’m straight up obsessed with this sheer glitter maxi dress from Nasty Gal. And lucky for you, Nasty Gal is having a huge sale RIGHT NOW! For my Kesha concert look, I threw this sheer little number on over a black tube top from Topshop and a simple black skirt from Forever 21. Oh, and the boots? Scored the last pair in the store for 5 bucks. You can still buy them online for around $20 at Forever 21.

THE GLITTER PART.

I absolutely swear by Arctic fox hair color. I used to have my hair professionally dyed pinkish, but after four appointments and a stupid amount of dollars down the drain, I decided to take matters into my own hands.  I’ve been using a bottle of Virgin Pink  mixed with the Arctic Mist Deluter, and I’m always amazed at the soft rosy hue that follows. Since my hair has been lightened, it takes the dye fairly well. This muted pink complemented the sheer dress nicely and had me feelin’ colorful as ever.

As for the glitter part, I just grabbed some silver glitter from the craft aisle in target, sprayed some hairspray in and around my part, and went to town. Simple as that.

THE FINISHING TOUCHES.

The real story? I panic painted my nails Marshmellow white the night before. Grabbed a black and gold drawstring pouch bag I forgot I owned. Popped in my favorite detailed gold hoops from Baublebar. And I was out the door and on my way to see the glitter queen herself.

THE BREAKDOWN.

I’m stupid committed to dressing up for events. Halloween, birthdays, Harry Potter themed parties – you name it, I’m going all out for it. But all those fun costumes and creative outfits don’t always come cheap. And you might only wear this whole getup once, so it’s always best to keep the cost down.

Here’s the breakdown:

$20 sheer dress

$5 booties

$10 tube top

$5 skirt

The grand total of these outfit essentials?
(drumroll plz)

 $40

Yep, that’s right. Only 40 bucks for this concert look.

Add ons:

$9 Essie Marshmellow nail polish

$42 Baublebar detailed gold hoops

$30 Black and gold pouch purse from World Market

I hope every single one of you has the opportunity to see a powerful performer like Kesha in concert. It made me proud to be a woman and proud to support someone living out such a strong message. Always be yourself, and never apologize for who you are.
